SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif., March 11, 2009 — Robert Davis Racing (RDR) kicked off its 2009 NASA season with five race wins over two days at Willow Springs Raceway.

The team welcomed Lee “LeeRoy” Papageorge to the mix, driving the #76 Performance Touring C (PTC) Mazda RX-8.  Lee brings a deep level of experience driving German machines, and is now fully in love with the rotary engine.  The team also welcomed the new Turbo version of Jim Holloway’s #07 PTB Mazda RX-8.  With 265 horsepower at the wheels, the RX-8 was flying at the fastest track in the west, Willow Springs Raceway.

RDR started the season on a high note, sweeping three Performance Touring classes on Saturday.  The team’s Spec Miatas were also out in force with Jeremy Barnes taking a top-five finish.

About RDR: RDR has been a dominant force on the west coast in SCCA Club Racing, winning regional, divisional and national titles for the last six years.  While the team still supports the SCCA, NASA has given it the opportunity to race in different classes, eliminating much of the inter- team competition.  MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development’s new support of NASA also aided the transition, as the team’s goal is to capture three NASA National titles at Miller Motorsports Park in September.

RDR appreciates the support of Mother’s Polishes and Waxes, SAFERACER, Hoosier Racing Tires, MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development, Racing Hart, Nippon Paint, Racing Beat, Speed Source, Hawk Brakes, Racing Beat, AWR, Classy Car Auto Detailing, Sparco, Pure Power Lubricants, Motul, Armor Shield, Image Printing and EMI.
